t's easy to like and feel for the heroine in Rose Carlyle's
No One Will Know
. Readers see Eve Sylvester deeply in love with Xander Blair, the feeling mutual. They traveled together to Sydney, where he plans to introduce her to his wealthy parents and plan their wedding.
T
hen disaster strikes when Xander is killed in a car accident. Eve discovers that she's pregnant and tells Xander's parents but they offer no support. An encounter results in a job offer, as nanny for a child of Christopher and Julia Hygate on an island off the coast of Tasmania.
T
urns out the Hygates don't have a child but want to adopt Eve's and pretend it's their own (Eve and Julia do look alike). Julia will fake a pregnancy and when the child is born, Eve is to be its nanny. She's offered a place of her own, in a summerhouse, but kept out of sight. Uncertain at first, she finally agrees.
I
f this offer seems too good to be true, we soon find out that it is - and so does Eve. She's moved even further out of sight to an islet lighthouse that can only be reached by boat. Months later, her baby is born and the pretense continues.
G
radually Eve learns that the Hygates are involved in murky dealings and decides she wants to leave with her child. Her long road to achieve this - with many twists and turns, and great peril - pulls reader interest through the story.
