All the Way Gone is the fourth in Joanna Schaffhausen's mystery series that opened with Gone for Good in Chicago. It features ex-Detective Annalisa Vega, now a private investigator and married again to Nick Carelli.

Annalisa's first client is a most unusual one. Dr. Mara Delaney has written a book, The Good Sociopath. Its focus is sociopathic neurosurgeon Craig Canning, who has saved very many lives. But has he also taken one? Young Vicki Albright lived in Canning's apartment building and recently died after a fall from her balcony. Was it an accident, as police have decided, or was she pushed?

Mara hires Annalisa to find out what happened before her book is released, but insists that the PI keep her client a secret as Canning terrifies her. She has reason to be afraid, as the neurosurgeon soon works out that he is being investigated and why. Turns out that the keys to the mystery lie in wind chimes and the disappearance of elderly Ruth Bernstein's Persian Cat Duchess.

But there are wheels within wheels in this convoluted plot, nothing is what it seems, and sociopaths need to win at all costs. Don't miss this excellent series.
