A rough childhood led to her working as an escort named Diamond, until a violent encounter with a client made her leave that business six years ago. Her PI brother Billy gave her a job and, as the story opens, she's very happy with her life in Orlando, and especially with her six-year-old son, Tyler. That life is upended quickly after a friend from her old life (who's still in that life) hires her to find a missing young Vietnamese call girl. Sandy starts digging, with help from a priest and an ex-cop, and quickly paints a target on her own back. The police and Billy warn her to back off, but Sandy feels responsible for not testifying before when she left the life. She feels even more so when she finds that the girl she sought has been killed. Her own peril steadily escalates, moving closer and closer to home. Helped by old friends and new, she eventually brings to light 'Corrupt cops, Russian pimps, and international sex trafficking.'
