as the ninth in Jean-Luc Bannalec's
Brittany
mysteries. These delightful police procedurals are as much celebrations of Brittany as mysteries. The lead, Commissaire Georges Dupin, has his very own way of doing things, while enjoying the mouthwatering delicacies and breathtaking scenery of the region.
A
s the episode opens, Dupin heads to Saint-Malo for a police seminar aimed at stronger collaboration between all départements. The area is renowned for its cuisine, which of course appeals to the Commissaire. Before the seminar begins, his sampling of wares in a local market is interrupted by a sibling murder, victim and perp sisters and celebrated feuding chefs. Lucille (the killer) is soon in custody but refuses to explain herself.
S
oon, Dupin and two colleagues attending the seminar are assigned the puzzling case. Each brings a different set of skills and approaches to the collaborative investigation, but they complement each other. Their work grows with another killing. Dupin's problem solving is, as always, constantly fueled by
petit cafés
- and, as usual, they do the job, as does the '
sensual epicureal wonderland
' of a dinner that ends the case.
