When it started in isolated Creek's Cause, fifteen-year-old Chance Rain was overshadowed by his seventeen-year-old brother, Patrick. They've been very close since their parents died in a car crash. Chance struggled with his attraction to Patrick's lovely girlfriend Alex. After an asteroid hit the area, anyone over eighteen turned into a vicious zombie. The Rains and Alex joined a group of survivors in a local high school, foraging for supplies and investigating from there. This sequel opens with Chance (as usual) in imminent peril. Alien Harvesters collect human kids to be impregnated by a Queen Harvester. Chance shoots the Queen, encounters a Rebel alien, and then is captured. As he's heading for oblivion, Patrick and Alex ride to the rescue. The plot continues with the usual extreme action, violence, betrayals and narrow escapes. As always, the Rains and Alex have each other's backs. They do discover the alien's kryptonite. That helps but is not enough. It turns out that Patrick and Alex are special, their genes engineered with the key to saving mankind - but at a high cost.
