t opens with protagonist Kyr in a simulation of events that led to Earth's destruction. Kyr has been raised in self sustaining Gaia Station with what remains of humanity, and trained in Sparrow Mess as a warrior (one of the best of her generation). She worships her Uncle Jole, the Station's Commander. Kyr has a twin, Magnus, and an older sister, Ursa, who fled the station.
W
hen her Mess are given their assignments, Kyr is shocked to receive Nursery (for continuous childbearing) as hers. Magnus received a suicidal assignment, but refused it and left the station. Kyr demands help from Mags' fiend Avi (a tech genius) to go after her brother, and soon discovers that nothing - from her sister's fate to Earth's ending - is what she was brought up to believe.
Y
et she remains indoctrinated in Gaea's mission of revenge against the Prince of Wisdom for Earth's destruction. After reuniting with Ursa, Kyr has the chance to unleash apocalypse on multiple worlds, but instead invokes an alternate reality. She gradually learns what Jole did to her sister and plans to do to her - and fights back against Gaea and all it stands for. Doomsday is over.
