Five teenagers shoot into a shallow grave, though the last boy ('the only gentle soul in the Savior House group home' in Chesterton, Pennsylvania) is very reluctant, despite years of abuse. In those days, Jenna, Donnie, and Nico were close friends but lost touch when the home was shut down after several youngsters disappeared from it. Now, Jenna is happily married to tax lawyer Simon just outside of Washington, D.C., and loves her two stepdaughters. Jenna, who used to live a very different life as an assassin, is pressured to return to it - but something is off. Someone tries to shoot her. Donnie, who used to be a star, Donnie Danger, plays in a cruise ship band and has a drinking problem. He's fired, pushed overboard, and rescued by a fisherman. Nico is executive producer for reality TV hit The Miners. After being lured into the mine, he's attacked and left for dead, but he survives. Donnie drank because he was upset by the news that his old friend Ben (a Judge) had died back in Chesterton. FBI Special Agent Rodriguez tells him a woman of interest in that case was also on his cruise. He's contacted by a hotshot writer to pen his bio. All three old friends end up back in Chesterton, desperate to understand why they have been targeted. It all goes back to disappearances and deaths twenty-five years before and there are more in the present before it is all over. I highly recommend this action packed chiller.
