S
wift the Storm, Fierce the Flame
is the sequel to Meg Long's action packed YA science fiction novel
Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves
. Both are set on corporate controlled alien worlds. The first episode introduced orphaned Sena, who bonded with red wolf Iska and raced with a team of offworlders through a wilderness filled with danger, from ice goblins, enormous bears - and competing racers.
O
ne of the offworlders was Remy Castell, a genetically engineered agent brainwashed to do corporate Nova's will. On jungle planet Maraas, she befriended Alora, who helped her fight that brainwashing. Events - and betrayal by fellow genopath and ex-partner Kiran Lore - led to her failing Alora, whom she has been trying to locate ever since. That took her to Tundar where she met Sena and gained intel leading back to Maraas. Sena and Iska accompanied her, chased by bounty hunters.
A
s this sequel opens, they land (very roughly) on Maraas, where three groups vie for control of the planet. After a series of wild adventures, Remy does find Kiran again and accepts his deal to aid a revolution in return for a reunion with Alora - but can she trust him? Fortunately, Sena and Iska have her back in a race against time - and the planet's hellstorm. This episode ends on quite the cliffhanger, with hints of more thrills to come.
