Episodes follow a typical plot - reluctant lawyer agrees to defend someone (with a canine connection) whose guilt seems clear. This time, though, Andy is in no way reluctant. That's because he 'dated Jenny Nichols in high school' and Jenny is now a major star, the pride of Paterson, New Jersey where Andy, family and friends reside. Jenny also adopted a dog from Andy's Foundation, a seven-year-old miniature French poodle named Mamie. After the death of Jenny's mother, she's back in town to deal with her effects. After Jenny's dinner with Andy, Laurie and friends is rudely interrupted by her costar (actor Ryan Griffin) and Ryan is found dead in her mother's home, Jenny is charged with murder. Of course, Andy rallies his associates to her defense. The story opened on a hit and run, but it takes time to understand its relevance to the main events. But of course, Andy and gang work it all out, astounding both jury and reader - and Jenny confirms, on the record, that they dated in high school!
