Mystic Wind opens James Barretto's new legal mystery series starring Jack Marino, who grew up in the gritty reality of the Mystic housing projects in Boston, but became an ADA prosecutor whose star was on the rise.

This first episode opens on homeless Crazy Nora witnessing a murder. The perps are ready to kill her too, but she hides in a culvert carrying 'globs of illegal waste and raw sewage to the larger Mystic Creek proper.' Next we meet Assistant DA Jack Marino trying a notorious Boston drug trafficker. He wins the case but also gains a dangerous enemy. Then he's called to the scene of the murder that started this story.

Jack is married to wealthy, socially ambitious Abby, daughter of a legal titan. Home from the murder scene, he's viciously beaten. Three months later, he's physically much improved but has lost his confidence. DA Trevor Cameron, running for Governor, shows him the door and Abby says she didn't 'marry a loser'. Needing a prosecution to fuel his campaign, Cameron picks a project kid from Mystic, and manipulates Jack to take on David Lamb's defense.

He takes the case and ends up in the fight of his life (and for his client's life), with help from Summer St. Cloud in the DA's office and from his long lost brother Matt. It finally all boils down to finding Nora, and breaking rules, to secure justice against corruption in high places. I'm looking forward to more in this fast-paced series.
