Enola Holmes and the Black Barouche
in Nancy Springer's YA mystery series starring Sherlock Holmes' much younger sister.
A
fter their mother suddenly disappeared when Enola was fourteen, the feisty teen ran away and masqueraded as a widow. Though Sherlock tried to find her, she outsmarted him at every turn. Now she has won Sherlock's respect. They remain in communication and even cooperate on cases. Enola resides at the Professional Women's Club.
T
his time, Enola works hard to help her very best friend, Lady Cecily Alastair, whose awful father is trying to auction her off to marry the highest bidder. Cecily is a very unusual young woman, with dual personalities associated with her use of her left or right hand. Right-handed, she is meek and compliant. Left-handed Cecily has her own plans and executes them competently.
E
nola does rescue right-handed Cecily, but then plucky left-handed Cecily takes matters into her own hands. At the same time, the police are searching for Cecily and Sherlock has been hired to find her - who will get to her first? Of course we know that Enola will save the day but her manner of doing so makes for high entertainment. Enjoy this series and don't miss the great Netflix movie
Enola Holmes
either!
