Murder Most Fowl follows The Gift of the Magpie as the twenty-ninth in Donna Andrews' thoroughly engaging cozy series starring blacksmith Meg Langslow, her extended family, and growing entourage of friends and associates. Meg keeps them all organized!

This time, Meg's husband Michael is director for a Macbeth production (twins Jamie and Josh have parts), and Meg is putting up most of those involved in their home. In the woods nearby, fairly incompetent medieval reenactors (led by Calum MacLeod) are trying to set up a medieval military camp. They cause all kinds of trouble.

As if that weren't enough to keep Meg's notebook full and Chief Burke on call, a prankster commits minor, nasty acts of vandalism. Then there's filmmaker Damien Goodwin. Trying to document the production, he is constantly in the way. When Goodwin shows some of his footage to everyone, it turns out to be both embarrassing and offensive.

His body is discovered the next morning, and the hunt is on for the killer. As always, Meg succeeds, but her own survival is touch and go. Luckily, Pomeranian puppies save the day.
