Now her friend Desiree was getting married, and Kate had baked a special cake for the beach side wedding, topping it with two cookies decorated to resemble the bride and groom. Everyone in the small community knew that Kate's cakes and cookies were delicious and that she was a capable decorator of her yummy creations. She received many orders for birthday parties, meetings and other events in nearby resorts, and, generous with free samples, she had brought many new walk in customers to the bakery after she was hired by her partner Sam. Providing the wedding cake and helping with her friend's wedding was a special treat that she was looking forward to. Desiree arrived before the groom, beautifully dressed but afraid that she was late. She told Kate that the limo hadn't arrived and she had been forced to find alternate transportation. The two women waited with the small wedding party for Judd, but when the groom never arrived, Desiree fell apart and was sure that something bad had happened to him. Kate called her policeman friend Ben but he couldn't find any evidence that a limo had been ordered and no one at the resort where they were staying seemed to be aware that this famous man had been planning to get married. Ben thought that Judd had just gotten cold feet and left the area. As the mystery deepens, only Kate and her friends support Desiree in her constant belief that her fiancé would never have missed their wedding unless he had been hurt or kidnapped. A small group joins together to review everything that they could learn about his last movements as well as anything else that might give them a clue as to his whereabouts. My only criticism of the book is a lack of background information on several of Kate's friends in this small community. There were previous books about Kate, Sam, and The Cookie House, and we get references to some events without learning why they are mentioned in this book. The main story is fast-paced and enjoyable, and the characters enjoy Kate's baking throughout this book, which includes a couple of recipes at the end, after the satisfying conclusion.
