Fatal Intent, stars anesthesiologist Dr. Kate Downey in Florida. Kate lives with her Great-Aunt Irm and has a dog, Shadow. Her husband Greg, a fellow doctor, has been in a coma for a year and his brother is fighting Kate over withdrawal of care. He's initiated legal action. Complicating Kate's life even further, she's on probation because of an error that ruined a heart intended for transport. Kate is shocked to learn of the deaths of two of her patients, days after minor surgery. She's determined to find out why they died, and soon learns that they were not the only ones. After she raises the issue with the surgeon who operated on them, Charles Ricken, she's lectured by the chief of staff, who was already is not a fan. Kate keeps digging anyway, helped by fourth year student Jenn Mason and by Christian, the son of one of the dead patients. Then Ricken accuses her of malpractice. Her career at risk, Kate doesn't give up, even after an attempt on her life. What she uncovers is a series of 'mercy killings for hire.' Fatal Intent is a gripping mystery.
