P. J. Tracy is a mother-daughter writing team, authors of the popular Monkeewrench series. Fans will be thrilled to delve into Deep into the Dark, first in a new Tracy series, starring LAPD Detective Margaret Nolan and damaged veteran Sam Easton, whom she first meets as a murder suspect.

Sam suffers nightmares, episodes of amnesia, and PTSD from his time in Afghanistan. His face is badly scarred on one side. He's separated from his wife Yukiko, works as a bartender, and attends therapy sessions. When friend and fellow employee Melody Traeger is beaten by her boyfriend Ryan, Sam takes her in. When Ryan is murdered, they both come under suspicion. Nolan and her partner catch the case.

Before that happens, the author shares a serial killer's perspective and this continues through the book, as women are found mutilated and killed. But there's much more to this story. Roses are being left in Mel's apartment - who had access and who knows about her past? A very wealthy young wannabe director is obsessed with Sam and Mel - why? There are the dark memories that Sam lost overseas - can he recover them?

Deep into the Dark is an intricate, gripping thriller, with leads you will root for - great entertainment, and I look forward to more.
