Shed No Tears follows Sweet Little Lies and Stone Cold Heart as the third in Caz Frear's London Metropolitan Police series starring twenty-something DC Cat Kinsella. Cat and her partner Luigi Parnell both try to keep on the right side of DI Kate Steele. She's tough but she has their backs.

Cat remains haunted by the secret she keeps both from her colleagues and her lover Aiden - of evidence she suppressed relating to Cat's father's involvement in the death of Aiden's sister Maryanne. Cat fears that revealing the truth would destroy her career and their relationship, but living a lie is damaging too - and it's getting harder and harder to keep her family and Aiden at arm's length.

This time, Cat and Luigi catch a cold case when the body of Holly Kemp is found in a ditch near Cambridge six years after her death. Serial killer Christopher Masters was believed to have done the deed but never confessed. The other victims were naked but Holly was not, and there are other differences in M.O.. Was Masters really the killer? Were mistakes made by the investigators? Did Masters have an accomplice?

Back at the office, they're introduced to DCI Tess Dyer who headed up the original investigation into Masters and Holly Kemp. She and Steele go way back. As Cat pursues the investigation, she turns up all kinds of surprises, including the involvement of a corrupt cop. This escalates to a shocking conclusion, while Cat's personal life gets so tangled that she seriously considers a major change. This excellent series remains on my must read list.
