fter a tough childhood, Charlotte has a seemingly perfect life - a husband, Eli, who loves her; a successful flower shop; and an adorable five-year-old daughter, Daisy. Charlotte loves her younger brother Rocco, an alcoholic who has given up drinking, but worries about his terrible taste in girlfriends.
T
he latest, Ruth, seems pretty normal and Daisy takes to her immediately. But there's something about Ruth that worries Charlotte, who is already (because of her own history) absurdly over-protective of her young daughter. The story moves back and forth in time, to show how these worries develop and what secrets lie in both women's pasts.
S
omething She's Not Telling Us
is a well developed psychological mystery, that shows how early trauma affects Charlotte's and Ruth's later lives, and leads both of them to disturbing actions.
