cozy mystery series is a delicious combination of Scottish history, stunning scenery, characters seemingly out of a Broadway play, and a very valuable book - all tied together in an intriguing plot.
elaney Nichols, American, working at the Cracked Spine bookstore in Edinburgh, is excited over her coming wedding to Tom Shannon, a picture-perfect Scotsman, kilt and all. Her family is to arrive soon from Kansas and she looks forward to her nuptials and a long life with the man she loves.
owever, the Reverend who was to perform the ceremony has passed away! Seeking an alternate, Delaney encounters Norval Fraser, a man obsessed with the Loch Ness Monster. He has spent most of his lifetime trying to prove the beloved monster is real and wants Delaney to continue his extraordinary research. Delaney is qualified to continue his work but doesn't choose to.
hen Norval's nephew is murdered and Delaney finds it impossible not to do at least some investigation. The plot twists and turns, with Delaney twisting and turning as well, as she refuses to stop her digging.
aige Shelton is a prolific writer with at least five series under her belt. All are worthy of a read, my favorite being this Scottish one. Having been to Edinburgh, I almost felt I had returned for another visit. I also enjoyed the author's sense of humor which added a touch of whimsy to the tale.
