L
ive and Let Pie
is author Ellie Alexander's ninth
Bakeshop
mystery. In it, Jules has promised to help Mom and the Professor on their house hunt. She is also busy with the renovations on
Torte
, a very popular bakeshop in Ashland, Oregon. Beware! Depictions of yummy baked goods are enough to send the reader to seek sweet sustenance.
M
om and Jules take a break from house hunting and carpenters' dust and treat themselves to a picnic at a nearby lake. Unfortunately, their picnic turns into a crime scene when Mom (Helen) discovers a skull. This find is soon believed to be connected to a missing person's case from the 1960s. Things get even more complicated when a lot near Torte goes up for sale and Edgar, the lot owner, is found dead. Jules, being who she is, cannot stay out of the mystery of who might have killed Edgar.
A
part from murders,
Live and Let Pie
is a delightful cozy. One to enjoy while noshing on a pastry that Jules herself might have created.
