In the Crosshairs is the tenth entry in Sgt. Jack Coughlin's explosive military thriller series starring former Marine Corps gunnery sergeant Kyle Swanson. It begins with a bang, when a bomb goes off at the funeral of Kyle's close friend Mickey Castillo, who was married to beautiful former commando Beth 'Coastie' Ledford. Now Coastie wants back in to the secret world.

Once an elite Marine sniper, Kyle is now the adopted son of the billionaire Cornwells, heir to their holding company. He's also acted as a special consultant to the CIA, under the direction of Marty Atkins. The latter now assigns him to track down Nicky Marks, a former Russian sniper, who worked for the CIA before going rogue - and who bombed the funeral. The hunt takes Kyle to Berlin, where he survives Marks' grenade attack, thanks to fellow agent Luke Gibson. Atkins assigns Kyle and Luke to work together.

Readers soon learn that Marks is working under the orders of a shadowy figure known as the Prince, who runs a drug kingdom, extending 'from the poppy fields of Afghanistan to the refineries in Mexico' and beyond to countless American addicts. We see him the Prince with a naive Congresswoman, whom he manipulates into spreading a story that the Agency is running drugs in Afghanistan, and that Kyle and the Cornwells' Excalibur Enterprises are part of it.

Meanwhile, the hunt for Marks takes Kyle and Luke to Pakistan and Afghanistan, where Kyle meets the Prince and his Lions, and ends up in critical condition. Fortunately, Coastie has his back, then and afterwards. In the Crosshairs is another engaging thrill ride from Jack Coughlin, who always delivers.
