From the author of The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins, here is another thriller, Into the Water, that will keep you on the edge of what I hope is a comfortable chair for the whole read. This book is very hard to put down.

Libby Seeton was forcibly drowned in 1679, having been accused of being a witch. Ann Ward drowned in 1920, and Lauren Slater in 1983. All these women have drowning in common, nothing else. Except they did all drown in the same waters. Why? The first one was put to death. But the other two? What led them to jump into the black, cold waters of the Drowning Pool?

The plot of Into the Water involves the women of Beckford, a small village on the edge of a river. This thriller slides from one person to another – each with their own chapters. Readers meet them one by one. We learn of each of their histories. Their connections to each other. Their lives. Their hopes and dreams. And of the allure of the Drowning Pool.

Author Paula Hawkins has given us another novel, that makes us ponder the motivations of each of the characters and wonder why the individuals who jumped into the Drowning Pool did what they did. Though I did have some trouble keeping all the characters clear in my mind, I found it a good read.
