He takes the news with a spoonful of salt and does his best to calm her down. He is sure she is imagining things. But it soon becomes clear that what the dear old lady told him might, indeed, be real. He belatedly realizes that someone was trying to kill her. Now on the alert for the safety of those at Fellside Court, Samson sinks into a full blown investigation. He is given a very willing hand in his work by Delilah Metcalfe, who doubles as the interest in his love life. Christmas approaches as a Yorkshire winter sets in, making Samson and Delilah's work harder than they had anticipated. They are determined to discover who is frightening the old folks.
