A
child was left on the steps of a Catholic church. Now an adult, Ava wants answers as to who she is. What is her mother's name? Where was she born? Why was she left, wrapped in a blanket, on church steps? Is Anais her real grandmother? Is Ava her real name?
A
nd why does she have memories of pools of blood? Ava manages to get a police detective and a best friend to help her work out her background. They seek to discover where cryptic notes, accompanied by Polaroid snapshots, are coming from and who is sending them. The three begin to feel they are being threatened.
E
ven though the detective is engaged to be married, he's spending more time helping Ava than with his fiancée. He is also neglecting his work for the police department.
Twist of Faith
kept losing me for a paragraph or two at the beginning of each chapter. I had to remind myself who was doing what. It got a little bizarre toward the finish.
I
did appreciate the descriptions of the locale of the plot. I am from the Philadelphia area and felt right at home.
