I
have to admit that spy fiction is not really my bag. But I do know that Matthew Dunn has been declared tops in writing in that field. So when
Act of Betrayal
came into my hands, I opened it and began a journey, watching a sniper ready to earn his pay.
N
ot a slow start but, if you are a fan of Dunn's writing, you already know that he builds suspense from the first page. In this seventh in the Will Cochrane series, I found the descriptions of all the workings of the FBI - along with their up-to-date gadgets to catch the bad guys who threaten national security - a trifle boring. I'm sure, though, that all of this will be many others' cup of tea.
H
owever, all of a sudden, the plot took off and it was a race to see who would win out – the bad guys or the fine, bold, brave men of the FBI. Tension and held breath takes the reader to an explosive finale.
A
uthor Dunn knows just what he writes about. He was an M16 field officer, who recruited and ran agents - oh, golly, check out the flip page of the cover to read of this man's exploits. Very, very impressive. And Dunn uses his life experiences to bring this world to his readers.
Act of Betrayal
is a book not to be missed.
