A woman is killed by a shark off the coast of the island of Virgin Gorda. Constable Teddy Creque is sure this is not an accidental tragedy, but murder. Readers are treated to the description of the woman's body parts being released from the shark's belly when it is cut open on the dock.

It seems most everyone would like the constable to leave well enough alone and stop meddling in the island's affairs. That he just cannot do. In his investigations, he encounters a child who seems like a genius but is only six years old and silent. Creque is sure the little guy knows something but he is incapable of telling Teddy anything.

There is another interesting character Sir Winston Churchhill! This chatty parrot knows something also but can't make himself clear. The plot gets thicker when the child's mother is kidnapped and is surely being taken to meet what could turn out to be an untimely end.

It's a fun book from John Keyse-Walker, the author of Sun, Sand, and Murder which won Minotaur Books/MWA First Crime Novel Award Winning Debut. Let's hope more will be forthcoming. Even with the scene on the dock.
