x-IRS agent Mortimer Angel, now a PI-in training, meets a lovely woman who claims to be a hooker. Where else but in a bar. Turns out, she is not only
not
a hooker, but is in disguise trying to find her sister who has disappeared. Angel can deal with this and finally decides to help Holiday (her undercover name) as long as she does not attempt to seduce him. He is deeply in love with Jeri whom he plans to marry.
H
oliday is a temptress but serious about finding her sister Allie. She has issues of her own that make Angel think twice about taking her on as a client. Of course, for the sake of the story, he and Holiday set off in pursuit of the missing sister. Strangely, Jeri is in complete agreement with the arrangement even though Holiday's appearance would make a Miss America stand up and applaud.
I
must mention the humor that runs (at top speed) through this novel. Angel has quite a sense of fun and doesn't hesitate to employ a healthy wit that the two women pick up on immediately. The plot is implausible but who cares. It's a fun book that works hard to please, which makes it well-worth a read.
