The bones of a woman missing for twenty-nine years have been found at an archaeological dig in Oklahoma. To complicate matters, it is on sacred ground of the Sylacauga (Creek) tribe. This find will probably delay and/or cancel the dig.

Faye Longchamp-Mantooth and her husband Joe own and run an archaeological consulting firm. We have met Faye and Joe in nine other books. All of them good mysteries.

The missing woman was thought to have run away from this same dig all those years ago. Now Faye and Joe need to discover who put this poor woman in the ground. After so long, it proves a difficult task and involves a lot of very different characters, including Joe's very own father Sly.

As always, the detecting work in this really enjoyable mystery is well worth the read. Also, Burials gives us another glimpse into the work of an archaeologist and insight into why it is important to learn from the past and to apply that knowledge to today's world. Burials will provide a good read. And it's always nice to be reacquainted with an old friend.
