But, with Nashville: Music and Murder, author Tom Clark makes the association seem natural. Or at least suspenseful. Of the eighteen books which he has authored, this is the first work of fiction. He has hit the bestseller lists of both the New York Times and USA Today. He may well achieve that distinction again with this murder mystery. Maci Willis has captured the hearts of fans all over the U.S. and abroad. As a country music entertainer, she is once again on stage when a shot rings out. The bullet creases her ear. Luckily the shooter is stopped before he can try again to kill the legendary singer. He shouts that he was only doing what she wanted him to do!! When this is repeated with another fan, she runs for her life. She hides out while recovering from her wound and uses the time to reassess her life. Realizing that what she does for a living is not bringing her much happiness, she continues to hide. She knows her career is faltering and that the shootings have awakened interest in her talent. She is also aware this will bring more money into her manager's pockets. We’re talking big money here. Tension builds as she makes decisions that will affect her future big time. She wakes to the realization that she is simply a money-maker. How she makes plans and carries them out could make the reader wonder if this is how the music world really operates. A good read.
