The Other Widow
. Joe is trying to tell his girlfriend Dorrie that they must end their relationship – he feels it is not safe for either of them. Is he afraid his wife will discover their affair or is it something at their workplace that worries him? She will never know as he is killed in an icy accident – she had been in the car too but lived. Dorrie struggled from the car and tells no one just what had happened or that she was involved.
J
oe's airbag - that might have saved his life - fails. Why? The passenger side inflated and Dorrie survived.
The Other Widow
answers these questions, but not until the very end of this tale. Mystery abounds. Suspense keeps the pages turning. Captivating writing makes you glad you chose this book out of all the others on the shelf.
I
was entranced by the delicate similes that set such precise scenes, freeing the characters to play their roles. And what characters! Joe's widow, Karen, while having an affair of her own, is devastated and has the feeling that someone is watching her. Maggie Brennan, an insurance investigator, ex-cop, and Iraq war veteran, is sure Joe's death is not a cut and dried case at all. His wife had taken out a million dollar life insurance policy on her husband just weeks before his death! Dorrie is heartbroken but decides life must go on. Don't miss this one.
