I
thought I had the killer identified almost from the beginning of this chilling thriller. Boy, was I wrong!
Child's Play
by Merry Jones is the third in the Elle Harrison series.
H
ow did I miss the first two –
The Trouble with Charlie
and
Elective Procedures
? Have to rectify that. If these two thrillers are anywhere as suspenseful and surprising as
Child's Play
, I don't want to miss them. Nor should you.
E
lle Harrison is a second grade teacher who has taught Seth Evans as well as his older sister Katie and brother Ty. Ty had been placed in juvenile detention for killing his abusive father. We meet him at his release at age twenty-one.
T
y is walking the streets as a free man when the school principal, a teacher, and Ty's former girlfriend are murdered. Of course, Ty is suspected of the murders in retribution for the abuse he suffered from the principal and the teacher in school as a little boy.
E
lle is attacked. She is not sure who violated her but is pretty sure it was her real estate agent. But she has no proof. Life is pretty frightening with Ty free. His drunken mother accosts Elle and the police haul her off only to quickly release her. Elle is frightened for her life.
H
ow many more must die before the killer is caught? Who do you think is following Elle and threatening her life? I'm not going to tell you.
Child's Play
is well worth the read to find out.
