That's pretty much the case here with Nichole, a woman who is left with a young son, a new job, and the task of rebuilding her life after her marriage breaks up. Of course, Nichole meets a new man, the opposite of her former husband, and the chance for a new relationship blossoms until Jake, her ex, tries to win her back. Fair enough. That's not an original scenario, but, in this instance, it is only part of the formula. Add Leanne, Nichole's former mother-in-law, and you have the rest of the story. Leanne has been living with the knowledge of her own husband's infidelities, and when her son's marriage hits the crisis point and disintegrates, she reacts. This, among other things, sparks action on the older woman's part and she also gets a divorce and discovers a new love interest. The relationship between these two women as they maneuver through the changes in their lives is what takes this into new territory and makes the book more than just a run-of-the-mill novel about betrayal and love lost and then rediscovered again. A best selling author with over 200 million copies of her novels in print, Debbie Macomber knows how to mine the vagaries of the human heart and the kaleidoscope of human emotions.
