he action and violence never let up in
No Good Deed
, tenth in Allison Brennan's thriller series starring FBI agent/profiler Lucy Kincaid. I enjoyed it, despite having missed the previous episodes. But it would be better to take them in first, so that you can relate to the series' large cast of characters.
T
he story centers on a brilliantly orchestrated prison break, which frees corrupt DEA Agent Nicole Rollins. But, contrary to law enforcement expectations, she does not immediately flee the country. Rather, she has plans - to retrieve a fortune and avenge herself on her enemies, including Lucy Kincaid and many close to her. Nicole and her associates begin to take out very specific targets - and federal agents die one by one.
A
s the novel opens, Lucy is remarkably happy with her fiancé, expert hacker Sean Rogan. She has '
finally accepted - and liked - who she was.
' Then she's pulled into the response to the prison break, and investigating the
executions
of colleagues that follow. Lucy begins to suspect that Nicole is higher up in the leadership of a violent drug cartel than anyone has suspected. And it becomes clear that the bad guys are getting direct intel from law enforcement - who is the traitor?
W
hile all this evolves, a trap is set for Sean's brother Kane. And when Sean hears that Kane has been surrounded, he rushes to his side, leaving Lucy desperate over his safety.
No Good Deed
is quite a thrill ride - don't open it unless you have plenty of time to keep turning the pages. And don't miss the preview of Brennan's next Maxine Revere thriller,
Poisonous
, at the back of the book.
