emperance Brennen is called to investigate when three decomposing infants' bodies are found in a run-down apartment. Tempe is told that a man had shown up there asking for Alva Rodriguez. She beings to realize that Alva is also using the names of Alma Rogers as well as Amy Roberts. Why? Did she kill her own babies? Where is she?

omicide Detective Andrew Ryan, who once shared time with Tempe, and Ollie Hasty, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police follow the woman's trail to Edmonton and then to Yellowknife which is deep in the Northwest Territories. Hasty and Tempe also have a little history together so it is an unlikely trio trying to hunt down this woman. Yellowknife is a remote diamond-mining city! Who would have thought? Diamonds in Canada, but it was big business.

emperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist who works in the States as well as in the Montreal area – wherever she is needed. The plot gets intense as the three encounter sexual tension, dialogue of the highest caliber, and a real sense of danger. Hold your breath. The story takes off running as the three investigators must almost run for their lives.
