The Oracle of Delphi 'embodied the decree of the gods' – or, at the very least, the word of Apollo. One did not disobey the word of the gods.

Young Kharon chooses the area of Delphi to rebuild his life as he reaches maturity. He left a miserable childhood behind. The gods wouldn't have been happy with his new lifestyle. He is known for his assassin's skills!

Greece is being flooded with counterfeit alcoholic beverages sometimes liberally laced with poisonous substances. All the time counterfeit labels are used depicting the contents as coming from well-known houses of winemaking as well as breweries. This is a widely used illegal gambit that is not only cutting into these industries' bottom lines but also making those who imbibe either terribly ill or many times killing them.

Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis and his subordinate Kouros delve into finding who is behind this racket. At the same time, the big boss is negotiating with Kharon to take Kaldis down. Permanently. This is a delightful series. As well as being a darn good mystery, it's also laced with well-placed humor.

My only problem with this seventh of the Inspector Kaldis series is three of the main characters having such close names – Kharon, Kaldis and Kouros. Confusing. Or am I the only one who has trouble with this?
