A Ghostly Murder by Tanya Kappes is the fourth Ghostly Southern mystery featuring Emma Lee Raines, a funeral home director who can suddenly see dead people. That is, dead people who should not be walking around and talking in her ear, saying things no one else can hear. A trifle disconcerting, I would say.

Of course, there is a problem. The rival Burns Funeral Home is trying to run Emma Lee out of business and be the optimal game in town. Mamie Sue tells Emma Lee that she did not die of natural causes but was murdered! This despite the fact that her headstone reads – 'I told you I was sick!'

We meet Emma Lee's Granny (a remarkably cantankerous woman) as well as a penny-pinching pastor and a slimy Lexington lawyer who are all skimming from Mamie Sue's estate!! Emma Lee snoops around much to the discomfort of her boyfriend, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross.

This was a delightful romp through the cemetery. I must warn you, though, that almost everyone has a double name. Made me feel I was back in Texas many, many years ago where everyone I met had a double name – Lela Mae, Gerald Wayne ... but who am I to talk? I've got one too.
