A painting is mutilated; a dog is stabbed to death; one guest is strangled; and the thirteenth, John Foss, is injured in a freak accident at a train station and brought to Bragley Court to recover. Several other house guests meet their maker – with a lot of help from someone unknown. Detective Inspector Kendall pits his skills against the murderer. He strives to uncover the past of everyone who is at Bragley Court. What more can a mystery lover ask? Thirteen Guests is another of the British Library Crime Classics from the time of the Golden Age of Crime Writing in the 1930s. Considered a classic of the genre, the novel has been forgotten and neglected, undeservedly so. Poisoned Pen Press, a well-known publisher, has happily taken on the task of republishing these fine mysteries, bringing them to light again. Fine reads.
