This second edition of Tony Kappes new series takes up right where the first one, A Ghostly Undertaking, leaves off. Emma Lee Raines, who operates the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home with her sister, has an unexpected and unwanted gift. Thanks to a bump on the head she has acquired the ability to see and converse with those who have passed over.

More specifically, Emma is visited by those who have been murdered and whose assailants have not been apprehended. Chicken Teater is just such a former client. He's been buried a while, but Chicken has been pestering Emma to figure out who killed him.

When the novel opens his grave is being opened because Emma has convinced her boyfriend, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross, that he needs to look into the dead man's situation. Sure enough, foul play was involved in the man's death and now all hell breaks out trying to pin the crime on the right suspect.

Besides opening the case, the little hamlet of Sleepy Hollow is also in a tizzy because Emma's feisty grandmother is running for mayor, the town's annual festival is occurring as well, and the media attention Teater is generating is bad for business.

Toss in a prize winning chicken and a former Miss Kentucky beauty queen, along with the usual small town crazies, and you have a very entertaining and funny suspense yarn.

It would be a grave error not to read this ghostly caper. It's a total stitch and it would be a shame to miss out on a very delightful new series.
