Prepare yourself for some totally window rattling surprises as Aimee Leduc finally figures out who was responsible for her father's death. This has been a nagging question in this series ever since its inception.

With her six month old daughter, Chloe Jeanne Renee, ready to be left with a babysitter, Aimee is about to return to her detective agency and take more of a role in managing the business. She immediately becomes involved in an investigation, trying to figure out who has kidnapped a dying Gypsy woman from the hospital where she was being cared for. Apparently, the missing woman has something important to share about the night Aimee's father was killed.

Although the story unfolds on a tight timeline, there's plenty of information that will be forthcoming as Aimee gets closer and closer to discovering the truth that has eluded her for so long. Along the way there will be a few additional deaths and Aimee herself will find her life on the line.

As usual, by condensing the timeline into just a few days, the story moves quickly and there's plenty of action. Also, having to juggle the care of her daughter with the investigation means that Aimee will, as usual, be balancing personal concerns with professional obligations.

Set in the seventh arrondissment, where the Parisian elite reside, there's plenty of local color included as Black describes the setting in intimate detail. In fact, Black has been honored with the Medaille da la Ville de Paris because she has captured the ambiance of the City of Light so well in this series.
