Season of Fear by Brian Freeman opens with a bloodbath in Lake Wales, Florida. Three men were massacred! Ten years later, it is beginning to look as though this might happen again. A widow of one of the dead men is running for governor. A reminder of the brutal attack is sent to her via a note saying, 'I'm back' along with a newspaper clipping of the fatal day.

Detective Cab Bolton is approached to investigate the threat because of the relationship between the candidate, Diane Fairmont, and his mother, movie star Tarla Bolton. Even though Cab doesn't relish the idea of getting involved with politics – too dark a subject as far as he is concerned – he and researcher Peach Piper dig up so much dirt, they are almost buried in it.

As the story plays out, intrigue takes over. It's hard to tell who's the goodie and who's on the other side. Cab doesn't want to believe that the massacre will be revisited but he also doesn't want the candidate's blood on his hands or on his conscience.

As if a political storm weren't enough, a strong tropical storm is heading for the candidate's pre-election party. A very strong tropical storm that will be remembered for years to come.

Tension mounts. A potential killing on top of the terror and devastation that the storm will produce are a little much to handle at one time. This is a thrilling read that only gets better and better as the story unfolds. Do not miss Season of Fear.
