O
h, how I enjoyed my second trip to Fairyland. After all, '
A book is a door into another place and another heart and another world.
' It was so nice seeing my old friends from the first installment of this riveting trilogy: September and Saturday, Ell and Gleam, and even former Queen Mallow.
H
owever, they were a bit different than I remembered. All my old friends were but shadows, cut off from their owners and taken to Fairyland-Below. And it was all September's doing from her first visit to Fairyland! But she didn't mean for it to happen.
A
nd that is why September is back in Fairyland and journeying to Fairyland-Below. She wants to right the wrongs that she committed. But that, dear readers, is easier said than done. September's own shadow, Halloween, is now the Queen of Fairyland-Below and takes great delight in her perfectly pleasurable parties. It should come as no surprise that the Hollow Queen is not about to give up her regal place in Fairyland-Below.
W
hile our protagonist is busy desparately trying to fix her mess, she makes new friends as well. There are Goblins and crying eels, deer-girls and Sibyls, Night Dodos and Onion Men, and even The Vicereine of Coffee and the Duke of Teatime! You'll adore their children, Kona, Darjeeling Matcha, Peaberry, and Littlest Earl. And, of course, I can't leave out the most special shadow of all ... but you will just have to visit Fairyland-Below yourself to find out who this special shadow is (I'm secretive and sneaky like that)!
A
special treat is the lovely, whimsical illustrations of the characters at the start of each chapter; It's nice to have a face to go with the name! This enchanting young adult book is a long read, better suited to the older young crowd. But adult readers, please don't be fooled. You'll be mesmerized too as you are whisked off to Fairyland.
J
oin me, won't you? We'll start with a visit to the Duke of Teatime, curl up with a hot mug of Darjeeling and head off to the adventures of Fairyland.
