Aftershock
. Donovan and Stephanie Van Gelder are becoming very close when she is kidnapped in Guatemala. Donovan's estranged wife, Dr. Lauren McKenna, wants to join the search for Stephanie.
T
he two step into a world they never bargained for. Guatemala reeks of corruption and deception, and they must also battle the deadly gas and lava from an impending eruption of a close-by volcano which produces earthquakes. Could anything else go wrong?
I
have to admit that I had some trouble reading the first few chapters – just too much technical stuff that really didn't do it for me. But I stuck with it because I realized that the technical information probably had to do with the volcano and its horrific heat and gases and lava. I was right. The action picked up and got breathtaking. A helicopter plays an important role and I do like the fact that the author used a female character as its pilot. She proved to be very competent and daring.
T
he final scenes are breathtaking ... and not to be missed. But don't skip to the last few pages. Let the tension build. It's well worth it.
