. We wonder what is really going on with protagonist Naomi. Why has her family committed her to a mental hospital?

ery gradually, Naomi opens up to a new psychiatrist, Dr. Rutledge. She shares her discovery that her shy, reclusive best friend Lana was being sexually abused by her own father, whose violent image constantly haunts Naomi even in her hospital room.

aomi has no visitors except for her friend since childhood, Lachlan, the boy next door. She loves Lachlan deeply but is also wildly attracted to Max, a financial advisor whom she met at a party with Lana.

aomi often loses her grasp of reality, falling into memories of passionate sexual encounters with Max, who got into trouble after confronting Lana's father. She feels guilty about Lachlan and confused about her feelings for both men. How will this love triangle be resolved?
W
ith help from Dr. Rutledge, Naomi finally comes to terms with the past that led to her incarceration, and with both men in her life. I have to admit that I saw most of this resolution coming, but it is very well executed.
