n a small town in Michigan, Lee Woodyard is managing the
TenHuis Chocolade Shop
while her aunt (the owner) and uncle tour the Pacific in a sailboat. TenHuis is situated next door to
Clowning Around
, a shop that sells all manner of things relating to clowns.

lowning Around is closed, because its owner, Moe Davidson, was killed a month ago. Lee would like to acquire the shop to enlarge the Chocolade. She asks to tour the inside of the building to see if it would be possible to renovate it for the chocolate shop. Moe's widow Emma and her two stepchildren want it listed but are asking more than Lee thinks it's worth.

ee begins to feel uncomfortable, sensing that Moe's killer might still be at large. The town is celebrating Clown Week. Many strangers will be in town as tourists. Could one or more of them be killers?

ee spends her time trying to uncover who is guilty and, for heaven's sake, why? She is also rolling out hundreds of clown-themed chocolates for the festival. Many of the outsiders could be there in clown costume and unidentifiable.

ow does a cream-cheese flavored filled truffle enrobed with dark chocolate and trimmed with a white chocolate dot sound. I almost needed to have a napkin to wipe the drool off my chin. This and other varied truffles are described. It would be easy to get hooked on chocolate just from reading
