as the second in Paula Weston's series about the Rephaim, offspring of fallen angels. Teen Gaby Winters settled in Australia's Pandanus Beach, still grieving over her twin brother Jude's death the year before. She shared a bungalow with a new friend, Maggie, but suffered horrific nightmares about fighting a hell-beast, a guy with vivid green eyes by her side.
J
ude's best friend, green-eyed Rafa, showed up in town, revealing that Gaby's memories of the past year were false and that she and Jude were Rephaim. Gaby learned that there were two Rephaim groups in opposition to each other and that Jude and Rafa had been with the Outcasts before his disappearance, while Gaby had sided with the Sanctuary group. Kidnaps and escapes followed and gradually Gaby rediscovered some of her abilities, though she was still unable to shift. She also found out that Maggie's new boyfriend Jason was Rephaim.
R
afa and Gaby are strongly attracted to each other, but the fact that he remembers a past - and conflicts - that she has forgotten gets in their way. Jason seeks a gifted relative, Dani, who has visions and may know something about Jude's fate. He takes Gaby and Rafa to meet a group of women that he trusts, who know about the Rephaim. They're trapped in a specially engineered room until Mya (an Outcast) comes to their rescue. She claims to have Jude's laptop and offers it in return for Gaby's help on a paying job.

hey rescue abused children who are bought and sold. Gaby learns to shift. And they finally track down Jude, who had believed his sister was dead. Events escalate to a grand finale of good guys versus demons. And this rather meandering, but action-packed episode ends on a cliffhanger which will leave readers anxious for what comes next.
