It's a really bad winter in New Hampshire, with snow and ice and frigid temperatures. Jay Porter is trying to keep his household afloat, as well as to provide for his two year-old son the child's mother is Jay's ex-girlfriend.

Jay gets a call from the sheriff's office saying that his brother Chris is being held for questioning about Chris's junkie business partner, who is missing. Chris has had it up to here with his brother's behavior. Rehab and then back on whatever drug is handy. Or liquor. Again and again. But Chris is his brother and Jay has always looked out for him. He can't stop now.

Before he knows it, he is embroiled in ugly lies and long-kept secrets. Secrets that could literally destroy his little town. As well as threaten his life and those of all he holds dear.

Lamentation by Joe Clifford brings action and suspense to the printed page in a well-plotted scenario. Clifford is an award-winning author with Choice Cuts, Wake the Undertaker, and Junkie Love to his credit. You can keep in touch with him through his blog, Candy and Cigarettes. Lamentation is a good read.
