If Halloween is your holiday of choice, New Orleans is the place to go. And Gossamer Ghost by Laura Childs is the book to read if you can't manage a trip there. What a delight Gossamer Ghost is. More fun than bobbing for apples.

Carmela Bertrand owns and operates a scrapbooking shop, holding classes for creative customers to make their own decorations for any manner of holiday. And, of course, buy their supplies from her. Her classes could get the creative juices flowing. Carmela also does investigative work on the side, much to her main squeeze's chagrin.

When the proprietor of the shop next to hers is found (by her) dead and obviously murdered, she just can't keep her mind off clues. When she learns that a death mask of Napoleon has been stolen, a search for this item becomes her first priority.

In the middle of following clues, she is wrapped up in Halloween festivities. Cemetery tours; a zombie train; an extravagant costume party. As well as increased sales to the tourists who flock to the Big Easy.

As always, author Childs presents her many readers with a delightful read as well as scrapbooking tips and luscious recipes for some down-home Louisiana cooking. Childs also writes the well-loved Tea Shop mysteries as well as Scrapbooking and Cackleberry Club mysteries.
