Maggie Summer is spending Christmas in Maine visiting Will, the man very much in her life, and his Aunt Nettie. This isn't just a holiday visit – she and Will have a very big decision to make. She wears his ring but can she commit to a lifetime with a man who doesn't accept that adopting a child – or two – is so very much her in life plans.

Will wants to buy a large Victorian house in his small town to open an antique mall. He hopes she will rent a room and sell her antique prints.

Suddenly, Aunt Nettie receives a letter that can only be considered as blackmail! Who sent the letter and what on earth could a ninety-two year old woman be blackmailed for? As the days pass, it is revealed that other upstanding elderly women are being blackmailed for indiscretions committed in their youth. Then murder strikes.

Shadows on a Maine Christmas by Lea Wait is the seventh in this delightful series. I've enjoyed reading of the blossoming romance between Will and Maggie and of the crimes they solve. I especially love Aunt Nettie, who has great wisdom to share but who keeps her silence when she could speak out. She knows everyone must solve their own problems, but continues to hope that all will be well.
