I
f you have followed the Kate Reilly mysteries, you know that Kate is a racecar driver. She is young, pretty, and one heck of a driver. She has had to prove herself many times over, being a woman in what is considered a male sport.
I
t is time for the Daytona International Speedway. Before she can even suit up for her first part of the race, she is told that her boyfriend Stuart has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run and is in a coma in hospital. He is literally fighting for his life.
S
he is kept apprised of his condition while she stays at the racecourse to fulfill her commitment to drive a Corvette at various intervals during the twenty-four hour race. During the race, a fatal accident occurs and Kate is not sure how much more she can stand emotionally, which would, of course, affect her driving.
P
olice are looking into the accident that has so severely injured Stuart. They think, now, that it may not have been an accident.
A
voidable Contact
by Tammy Kaehler is a top drawer novel. I don't know much more about cars than that one must turn a key and spend a lot on gas. Kaehler has brought the surroundings of a racecar driver to life with what to me seems great authenticity. A racecar enthusiast should not pass
Avoidable Contact
by. It is a real winner.
