ne fall day Adam gets on his bike and starts pedaling. He does not stop nor does he go home. Adam is not out for a joyride. He is riding from his home in Monument, Massachusetts, to Rutterburg, Vermont, to find his father.

ut is Adam's father really in Vermont? Adam recalls his journey and blocked memories in a series of recorded sessions with a doctor. At least he assumes the man he speaks to is a doctor. And Adam also assumes he is in a hospital. Is he really, though?

hen there is the mystery of the man in the gray suit. Adam can only recall a little information. The man visits sometimes at places he and his parents have lived, talking in hushed tones in a special room. However, Adam cannot remember if the man is there to help his family or to harm them.
