arly Thomas lives to fight fires; she grew up reading burn patterns under her father's expert tutelage. Ultimately though, fire not only took her father from her, but her fiancé as well. Despite both tragic losses, Carly knows that fighting forest fires is her life's calling, no matter the ever-present danger.

serious injury may have cut short Steve Merks' smoke jumping career, but his intimate knowledge of wildland burns still make him a valuable asset as a spotter and drone specialist. When a small burn turns into one of the worst wildfires in decades, Steve and Carly must work together not only to stop the out-of-control blaze, but also to control their smouldering attraction before their emotions too, burn out of control.
B
uchman injects this high flying and searing story with plenty of technical details as the men and women of the Firehawk team leap into action to save lives and sprawling forests, as well as to stop a terrorist threat. Sometimes these details overshadow Carly and Steve's growing and complicated relationship, but by the story's end the author does a competent job of getting their emotions on the right track towards a satisfying conclusion.
